Why do it?

Now and again when you're browsing, you may come across a snippet of information that you'd like to keep, or quote in another document.

Or maybe you need to copy a web address to post in another browser.

The easiest way to do this is to
Copy the text you want and Paste it somewhere else.

Selecting text

Selecting is really easy to do. You just move the cursor to the piece of text you're interested in, hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse.

You'll see that the background turns dark and the text white. This is the text you've selected for copying.

Release the left mouse button and the text stays selected.

Try it on the text below:

Highlight a word in the middle of this sentence

Easy enough, right? Now it's time to copy it

Copying text

If you found selecting easy, you'll love copying!

With the selected text still highlighted (and the left button released) press the right mouse button.

A small menu will pop up. At the top of the menu is the option to copy. Just select that option with the left mouse button and the text is copied.

The copied text is placed on to an area known as the paste board, ready to be pasted somewhere else.

Pasting text

Guess what? That's right - this is easy!

Just open up whatever you want to paste into - a text editor, a browser, whatever, click to put the cursor where you're going to paste and then click the right mouse button again.

This time, the pop-up menu will have an option to paste. Just select that and the copied text will be pasted just where you need it.

Okay? Off you go...
